Essential Knowledge (EK)
Please notify Ms. Thomas of any accommodations or modifications in advance of any assessment so that I can best support your learning.
Essential Knowledge:
Before the EK:
Prepare your Single Page Summary of the Topics covered and bring it to class. Your Single Pager is your ticket to being able to participate in the EK. If you don't prepare, you must come to Flex with your completed Single Pager to make up your EK.
Grading:
Given about once per unit. EKs should give you a sense of your progress and understanding of the material as we move towards tests and exams. As a result, EKs are not weighted according to the IB scale. All EKs are scored out of 10 points, which will then be converted to our 4 point scale. A final score of 6 or below requires a flex time appointment to go over the material.
FYI: These are not the same as our Daily Quizzes.
Retakes:
You may retake an EK one time. A successful retake can result in a score up to 100% and must be done in class. Your highest score will be kept.
